Position Description

Looking for an opportunity to build your portfolio? Broadway Clay is an educational studio and gallery nestled in the heart of historic downtown Frankfort, KY. The studio is offering an emerging artist the experience of living above a pottery studio for one year. The artist will learn from experts in the field and strengthen their skills in throwing, teaching, studio maintenance, and glaze chemistry. 

 

Terms:

  • 12 hours of studio work per week and the flexibility to be scheduled to teach classes. 

  • Studio tasks include:

    • Loading and unloading kilns. 

    • Working the point of sales at the gallery.

    • Promoting the studio on social media.

    • Instructing private wheel throwing lessons and bisque painting. 

 

Revenue opportunities:

  • Space in the gallery to sell your work 

  • Paid teaching opportunities

  • Paid time above the 12 hours/week of required studio work

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts specializing in ceramics

    • Experience can be a substitute 

  • Wheel throwing skills 

  • Hand-building skills

  • Ability to teach all ages 

  • Social media experience 

  • Sculpture skills are a plus

 

Starts on August 1 and runs through July 15.
